Chinese culinary treats can be
obtained at any of the food stalls in Taiwan's streets, alleys and
night markets. Taiwanese and foreigners alike can sample Chinese
snacks ranging from sweet desserts to hearty sausages. If you have a
stomach for dumplings, noodles, buns, or something more exotic, make a
trip to the famed night market in Kee-lung for an eye-dazzling,
mouth-watering extravaganza.
If you haven’t visited a night
market you’re missing something unique. Huaxi Street (aka Snake Alley)
is the designated tourist night market and has a colorful history
beneath the modern day draping, take the MRT to the blue line station
Longshan Temple. Shilin night market is the largest night market in
Taipei and located on the MRT red line Jiantan station. If you go
after dinner on a Friday or weekend be prepared to fight the crowds.
