Most students enroll in a classes meeting 2 hours per day, 5 days per work. The regular class may be supplemented with a culture class, tutorial or second group class, usually meeting 2-6 hours per week. Under special conditions, students may enroll in an additional 10 hour group class or tutorial (tuition will be adjusted for all supplementary classes). A special class load is not recommended for beginning level students and is not available during times of high enrollment such as the 2 month summer session offered during July and August.

Group classes meet for 2 hours daily, Monday through Friday. There are six class periods, the first running from 8:10 - 10:00 a.m. The noon period, 12:10 - 2:00 p.m., is reserved for culture classes, lectures and special help tutorials.

Tutorials may supplement a regular class load and are usually arranged for less than ten hours per week. Due to the large number of students at the MTC, tutorials are offered on a limited basis, with advanced students being given priority. Tutorials are dependent on teacher and classroom availability.

Each term the MTC offers culture classes designed to concentrate on certain aspects of Chinese art, history and society. Classes include Peking Opera, Calligraphy, Painting, Name Chop Carving, Taiwanese, Tea Customs, Chinese Culinary Art, Chinese Martial Arts, Folk Singing, Chinese macramé and other related subjects of interest. Classes are taught by professors from respective NTNU departments and MTC instructors. These classes help strengthen students' understanding of Chinese culture and will help them make the most of their stay in Taiwan. Classes for the most part are taught in Chinese.

Mandarin Phonetics is taught twice a day for two hours during the first week of each quarter. Students unfamiliar with the National Phonetic Symbols are strongly encouraged to attend as this is the transcription system used at the MTC and is the most widely used system in Taiwan. Chinese Radicals is taught twice a day for two hours during the second week of each quarter. Students interested in learning brush stroke order, categorization of characters and the origins of some of the characters are encouraged to attend.
